Safety Tips for Pet Owners During the Holidays

As we enter the holidays and the days get shorter, it's tempting to let your guard down when it comes to safety. But not only is it important to be aware of your surroundings, but it's also crucial that you keep an eye on your pets.

This blog post will discuss some of the most common hazards for pet owners during the holidays.

3 Safety Tips for Pet Owners this Holiday

Keep your pets indoors!

No matter how much they beg and plead, don't let them out in the cold. If you must go outside, make sure to bring them with you or have a leash ready. This way, you won't spend holidays worried about your pets.

Don't leave lit candles unattended!

The scent of cinnamon and cloves fills the air, and their flickering flames create a warm glow that makes everything feel so cozy. But as wonderful as it is to surround yourself with all of this ambiance, please don't leave lit candles unattended if you have pets around.

Candles can be dangerous for pets—they can burn their paws or fur, and if a candle is left unattended, it can ignite a fire that could cause serious damage to your home and even kill your pet! And while we know that it's tempting to leave lit candles unattended while your pets are around because they're so beautiful and festive… please don't! Just because they're cute doesn't mean they can't get hurt by something as simple as a candle flame.

Be careful when decorating with lights!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and what better way to celebrate than with lights?

But beware: you might be putting your pets in danger!

We all know that our furry friends can't resist chasing after lights. That's why so many houses have them. But some lights are more dangerous than others.

The most dangerous kind of light to your pet is one that has an electrical cord attached because it can chew through the cord and cause electrocution or burn itself on a live wire. If you want to decorate with lights this holiday season, ensure that any string of lights you use are battery operated or plug-in only. And don't forget about those Christmas tree lights—if you're going to put them up, be sure not to leave them on for too long, or else the heat from the lightbulbs could burn your pet's paws!
